Membership
Apprentice Membership
Membership of the Science Apprenticeship Forum is open to current apprentices and individuals who have completed an apprenticeship. Membership is only open to UK residents.
We will not tolerate any form of abuse, discrimination, harassment or victimisation. If we learn of any content or interactions that fall short of our standards, we will take appropriate and timely action.
Membership of the Science Apprenticeship Forum is solely for current and completed apprentices.
All Science Apprenticeship Forum (SAF) members must:
- Be 16 years of age or older
- Be a current or former apprentice
- Remain impartial and promote the entire apprenticeship programme, not just their organisation’s provision
The SAF reserve the right to refuse any application of membership.
A member can end their membership at any time by contacting info@scienceapprenticeshipforum.org
Personal details will be retained for 14 days, in case of a change of mind immediately after leaving, after which they will be deleted.
Participation
As a member of the Science Apprenticeship Forum, ambassadors must sign up to receive communications and notifications.
Forum Responsibilities:
- Promote best practice within science apprenticeships by offering insights from the apprentice perspective on what constitutes best practices for external parties.
- Attend meetings and other activities where appropriate
- Become involved in apprenticeship / science outreach and provide support to other apprentices within science where possible.
- Optional: Regularly volunteer to support key SAF activities throughout their membership.
- For example, provide an apprentice’s viewpoint to science related trailblazers and the Science Occupational Standards and Technical Education Oversight Group.
General membership
This forum acknowledges that many members will be balancing apprenticeship learning, work, and other commitments while participating in the forum. Therefore, we encourage members to engage with the group to the extent they feel comfortable.
There is no requirement to attend meetings regularly, and some members may find it difficult to attend but may still wish to engage with the information circulated.
Members are expected to formally decline meeting invitations if they are unable to attend, either by notifying the chair via email or declining the online meeting invites.
Business Membership
Membership of the Science Apprenticeship Forum is open to organisations that support, deliver, or employ apprentices within the science sector. This includes employers, training providers, and partner organisations. Membership is only open to UK-based organisations or those operating within the UK apprenticeship system.
We aim to build meaningful, collaborative relationships with businesses that are committed to supporting and promoting high-quality apprenticeship opportunities. Members are expected to engage constructively, share best practice, and contribute to the ongoing development of the apprenticeship landscape.
We will not tolerate any form of abuse, discrimination, harassment, or victimisation. If we become aware of any behaviour or activity that falls short of our standards, we will take appropriate and timely action.
Business membership of the Science Apprenticeship Forum is intended to support the wider apprenticeship community, not solely individual organisational interests.
All SAF business members must:
- Be a UK-based organisation or actively operating within the UK apprenticeship system
- Support the development and promotion of apprenticeships in the science sector
- Act with integrity and professionalism in all SAF-related interactions
- Promote apprenticeships broadly, rather than focusing solely on their own organisation’s provision
- Be open to collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and engagement with apprentices and other members
The Science Apprenticeship Forum reserves the right to refuse any application for membership.
A business member may end their membership at any time by contacting info@scienceapprenticeshipforum.org.
Organisational contact details will be retained for 14 days following termination of membership, in case of a change of mind, after which they will be deleted.
